Community Champion Prisons

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners

Isaiah 61

Stephen describes the role of the Church in supporting the work of both those in prison, their families and those prisoners who return to the community. There is also a huge team of personnel who also need prayer as they work in very difficult situations.

There are many ways that people can get involved:

  1. You can pray.

  2. You can support their work by volunteering

  3. Giving towards the work they do with Angel Tree (gifts for prisoners children), Sycamore Tree (helping prisoners to recognise the impact of their crime upon the victims and the wider ripples) writing encouraging and hope giving letters to prisoners, supporting the team of Chaplains,

  4. Encouraging your Church to get involved in supporting prisoners when they are released.

  5. And there are many more ways you can get involved - check out their website.

Please pray for:

  1. Stephen and the team that God will keep them safe as they are travelling around the nation.  Stephen recently had his car written off in an accident as he was on his way to a prison.

  2. The prisoners that they will encounter God during their time in prison.

  3. The Church that we will have hearts of compassion to reach out and help.
